(Taiwan)2008 International Swimming Carnival at Sun Moon Lake
The annual swimming carnival at Sun Moon Lake is heating up. This year the swimming carnival will be held on August 31 and about 20 thousand people will head to Nantou to attend the activity to swim across the lake.
The carnival attracts swimming enthusiasts from Taiwan, US, Japan, Singapore and other countries, the route in a total of 3300 meters long and starts from Chaowu Pier to Ita Thao. The special event became a big-scale activity since 1983, and as Sun Moon Lake is one of the well-known tourism spots in Taiwan, the participation of Swimming Carnival is meaningful.
Sun Moon Lake is the largest lake in Taiwan and named for the shape of a round sun and a crescent moon. The alpine lake is calm and surrounded by mountains, and the beauty of Sun Moon Lake is different as the strokes of Chinese painting. No matter the reflection of the mountains and trees on the surface or the mist veil covering in the early morning, Sun Moon Lake would impress visitors all the time.
